Note, Sam, and Grant divided themselves between the two queen beds in the loft, and I was stuck with the room downstairs with two twin beds. Oh well. Katie would share it with me when she got there.
While the boys watched Starsky and Hutch I just sort of vegged around in the kitchen and mom and dad went snowshoeing around the block, and then alot later the Knutsons (my cousins!) arrived! That means Uncle Kent, Aunt Anne, and Katie (10th grade), Jenna (5th grade), and Mark (college). We played games and ate dinner and had a jolly good time, and the snow came down in torrents throughout all of it. A bit later we got a call from some of our neighbors, who were stranded in the blizzard, along with 2500 others! When we heard that we eagerly welcomed them in, and they took over the bedroom I had been in. Quickly we made amends, and I got one of the queen beds and Note pushed together the couch, ottoman, and leather chair! He was so happy with that he stayed there another night.
The next morning the three Blanchards piled back into their tiny little Honda Accord and drove off. We'd been planning to go skiing, but it was still snowing and 0 degrees. We nixed that plan, and a few hours later Mom, Anne, Katie, Sam, Grant, Me, Jenna, and Note all found a big sledding hill, where we froze our tookusses off! It was fun though. Then we all went to the Rec Center, which was amusing.
We had chili for dinner that night, and played a few more hours of Rummikub and Scrabble. Whoo! New Year! Ah, yes...Around 1 o'clock most everyone had gone to bed, but Katie and I sat half awake on the landing, knitting away, while Mark and Note finished yet another game on the kitchen table. They wanted to play still, but that game was getting old, so we all dug around in the game cabinet and found the Primo Edition of Cranium!!! The four of us played that until 3:30 in the morning, much to the chagrin of the rest of the family. But we had so much fun, it was amazing.
So now it's 2008, and we're free to leave behind our failures of the past year. All the tears, the struggles, the almosts, and the nevers.
They're gone, guys.
TO THE BEST YEAR EVER!!!
