Man, We Haven't Updated Anything

Recent Important Events in Moriah's life:

- I joined Speech and Debate
- Michael. If you still need to hear about this, e-mail me.
- Having to drive down to Loveland for violin lessons.
- Tech class
- Grumpy people
- Seminary
- Reading Warriors
- Teaching Matt about sugar scrub
- Learning about sugar scrub
- The love... web.
- Why the counselors and access suck.
- Uh... I'll think of something else.
- Senor had his baby... Stryker! (No, the name is really Ty. Like the Beanie Baby company. I wonder if they thought of that.)
- I'm sick of the fact that it's freezing in the morning and in school and roasting in the afternoon and outside. Ugh.

Me Right Now

I think I'm going to try to just type without thinking like we're supposed to in English class.... For three whole minutes. This will be interesting.

Okay so now it's 8:35 and I'm going to type until 8:38 which will be hard but I can do it! Oh yeah Moriah, way to be self-confident. I'm already rambling without meaning which will be really wierd for people to read but if they want to read something good then they shouldn't be reading anything written by me.

Lori said I write well, but I think she was just being nice to her sister's daughter. Whatevs. Poor Aren is going to be so sheltered and aware at the same time. Man I hate it when I go off on tangents but I guess this is what this is for.

Now "The Power of Love" just came on. Very interesting. It could even make people see the non-evil part of Ms. John. It could make a guy search his house for cloves just because of something someone said. What a scary power. People say that Zeus was the most powerful Greek god since he had the lightning and all that good stuff, but I think that Aphrodite, the goddess of love, would be more powerful. It's a scary power. Maybe that's why we can't control who we fall in love with. It's a bad power to have. Of course, Unnatural Child 1's convinced that she can keep herself from falling in love. Yeah right.

Ack. My eyes won't focus. Time to take my contacts out. I hate it when they won't focus. I did get up at 4:30 this morning though (for Seminary), so I should probably go to bed now anyway. Hey, it's 8:40 and I didn't stop once. Yes!

Please comment.
Good night.
Remember how much you are loved.
Wear properly lined swimsuits.
Don't fall asleep in History.
Don't use exacto knives on Oreos.
Always make sure you know the difference between a Michael and an Andrew.
Etc.
Love you all!

The end.

Potter Puppet Pals - Bananaphone

This is one of Unnatural Child's sister's favorite songs. It's funny!

Busy Busy Busy

Sorry I won't be posting much for a few weeks. With rehearsals till 5:30 Mon-thurs, and Ms. Hollis' strange obsession with assigning 8 page evolution based packets every single night (AAAAARRGGGH!!!! SOO ANNOYING!!!!), I haven't got much time left for...this. Keep me informed though! Missin' y'all, Kenz

The Angry Song - Harry Potter Style

This is the angry song-Harry Potter style! Please comment!

Finally, something worthwhile to blog about!

Oh wow, did I see God working today or not?

You've all seen me wear that one white shirt with the pink handprint on the front- the handprint everyone reaches out to cover with their own hand and then draws back suddenly? Yeah. It's my MIP shirt, for Mission It's Possible. We started last summer with our Baby Darla mission, and we've also done Caring Caps, and Quilts for Kabul. Today we did Mission Baby Terae.

Jennifer, a ex-druggie who recently got out of jail and lives in a hotel room with her husband, had her baby- Terae Jennelle- 16 days ago. She had her first child when she was only 14- that's ME, giving birth in about 10 months. Holy Crap. Now she's 30, and her fourth child has now been her first child to ever receive a baby shower! For the past two weeks we've been busy crafting and shopping things for Jennifer and Terae, and today we got to meet the two of them at a park in Denver! We ate Chipotle and cake, and we gave her presents!!! She got tons of stuff- slippers for her, bath stuff, closet organizers, a laundry basket, and then even more stuff for the baby- clothes organized into bags for Newborns, 0-3 months, 3-6 months, and 6-12 months, bottles, bottle liners, diapers, a Snuggli baby carrier, toys, hand-painted burping towels, sleepers, onesies, booties, hats, sheets...oh it was amazing! It was one of the funnest things ever to watch Jennifer unwrap it all- she was so happy and humble about it all! Plus, she was a total crackup, one of the funniest people I've ever met. Someone told her that, and she said, "I told my Daddy I was a comedian but he told me not to quit my day job. Now, I don't even have one!!!" Well, that doesn't sound good, but it was funny. There were all these other little black kids in the park, and they'd been playing tug-of-war a little ways away from us. About halfway through the gifts, they got really interested and just came over and watched! As Jennifer unwraped about 7 hand-painted onesies, she told us we had too much time on our hands. "You should all go join a gang or something," she joked. It was amazing! If you pray, keep her on your list. :)

Well, that's all for now.

God bless!

Another I'm-so-bored post

I saw this quote on my sis's homework the other day. Tell me if you can figure out what it means.

"Rabbits adapt and die, then impact other animals who were dying
without rabbits to eat, and now they have more rabbits."

You know what I mean.

DON'T USE THAT EXACTO-KNIFE ON THE COOKIES! You know what I mean. If not, you poor, deprived child :). (This is just a random I'm-so-bored-post.)

Oh Snap

Oh snap. We have three gallons of milk in the fridge. They expire tomorrow. Which leaves me, the number one consumer of milk in the household, a Herculean task. I must consume said milk. Soon. I've got half a gallon sitting next to me right now. Oh snap.

Keeping Secrets From Me (The Angry Song)

This used to be a very funny video, courtesy of Moriah, which unfortunately had to be deleted by me because of my parent's rules about names and pictures. Sorry about that. Email Moriah if you still want to see it, I'm sure she'd be happy to send it to you.

My First Mini-Debate Thing

Resolved: That the rule about not doing homework during access is unfair.
Terms:
Rule: Method of behavior students are required to follow.
Homework: Work assigned by teachers to do outside of thier class.
Access: The period between fourth and sixth on Thursdays.

The administration says that we need to read for fun. They recognize that we won't read for fun at home, however, they fail to recognize the reason for that: All our time is consumed by doing our homework since we have no free period in which to do it. Not allowing students to do thier homework during Access is a deliberate attempt to take away the agency and rights of the student body and is all-around harmful. If we were allowed to do homework during Access, it would allow time at home that we could use to read.

If the school wants to make sure that it's students are reading for pleasure, a far more effective method would be to assign an hour of reading every week in English class. The school must resolve this grand injustice and allow students the study time that they need. Only then will students read for fun more.

What is this Feeling?

Alright, I officially loath Ms. Campbell and Mr. Matthews. Apparently someone in my LINK group made a racially derogatory comment to someone, so my entire group got hauled into the principal's office to have a little chat with Ms. Campbell and Mr. Matthews. I don't have a clue who said what, so I don't even know exactly why I was there, and it was pretty offensive all in all to be treated like I was some sort of naughty child. I mean, I've never been to the principal's office in my life (well, technically, counseling office), and to be called in front of the entire high school, in the middle of lunch? To be chastized for something I didn't do? To be stressed out for no reason whatsoever, and enfuriated for the rest of the day? Unacceptable. Honestly, how can the administration tell us all how important respect is, and then hypocritically turn around and treat us like this? Obviously, I'm not in a very good mood right now. Sorry to rant on about this to all of you, but I need to vent somewhere. And Riah, thanks for listening to me explode earlier, it really helped.

saying goodbye

It's been about 2 and a half years since I saw the first little one, and today, I started to say goodbye. The doctor wasn't strong enough to vanquish all the warts that had literally taken over my elbow and fingers, so we went to a dermatologist. She used a miniature fire hydrant to freeze off my entire elbow, and injected yeast into my hands, like a steriod prompting my body to react against the warts itself. They're all bandaged up, and by tomorrow it's likely they'll be red and swolen. With any luck, I won't be able to write...except for in English. I love that class.

I'm next to positive I didn't get a part in Harvey. Oh well. I've already been through my 6 hours of anguish and curses. And no one tell me to get my hopes up, because I don't want to go through that again! lol, just kidding...sort of. I'll do stage crew instead.

Time to set the table. Later yo's!

Being Back

Good Things About Being Back In School:
1. I get to see everyone again.
2. I'm more organized.
3. New music for violin.
4. More things to blog about.
5. There's got to be another one.....

Bad Things About Being Back In School:
1. Getting up early.
2. Homework.
3. My hands aren't used to all this writing.
4. Boring or aggravating teachers.
5. Annoying kids.
6. Stupid situations you got yourself into last year (you know what I'm talking about).
7. Less free time.

Things That Are Both Good And Bad:
1. Seeing certain people again.
2. Being around more people. (Good because it's more interesting. Bad because some of them you don't like.)

Bad Things About Life That Don't Have Anything To Do With School But I'm Blaming School For Anyway:
1. Wierd dreams where your grandmother yells at you for being single.
2. Romance, confusion involving romance, raging hormones, etc.
3. Sneezing.

Being Original

Alright, I've seen at least three of my friends have posted this on their blogs recently, so I thought I'd be original and do the same thing...lol. And just for the record, I don't count anything classical, since "Simphony number 32 by Mozart" doesn't really answer anything...same with audiobooks.

Comp Book

I just finished decorating my composition book for English. It's so cool looking, I love it! Of course it has pictures of you guys all over it! Actually I don't have any pictures of you thomas, and I need some. It has pictures of me, hannah, kelly, aj, katie, olive, gary, mel, kacey, erica, brooke, drew, nichole, and michael weslake. yeah. I would have put more, but I ran out of room. Shucks. lol. It looks really cool though! I need to make more notebooks like this. What do yours look like?
I'm really looking forward to my carpool this year. lol.
I'm gonna do speech and debate I think, if ms. west lets me. Half of the practices are thursdays after school, which would be during rehearsals (IF I get in- eep!), but on the other hand, she did say we should go out for it, so I'm not sure if she'll accept that or not. I wonder if I could get away with only going to the monday morning practices...hm....
Saw the movie Invincible last night. Way better than I thought it would be- I got really interested! It was a good movie, if you haven't seen it, sometime you should. Yeah.
Last Tuesday-saw The Little Mermaid at the Ellie Caulkins Opera House. Yes, laugh all you want. It was incredible!!! It was the pre-Broadway engagement, so they haven't recorded the soundtrack yet. Mel and I pre-ordered it though. It was so good, I can't wait for it to come out!
Can't find my English syllabus. Curse my unorganization.
Grant was sick last night. He says he feels better except for his throat. That's got to be a drag-had it a few weeks ago. Hope he gets over faster than I did.
Olive's phone is broken. It's driving me nuts. Olive, fix your phone. Lol.
Hannah's mom got bit by a brown recluse. I've had spider bites before, but never by poisonous spiders. Ugh, that would freak me out. I'm not afraid of spiders, but brown recluse? Still haven't quite gotten over that Frank Peretti book from my pixie year...lol
Mom's coming back today- another one night stint in CO. Springs. Therefore, our house is messy and we have no food. Without my mother, we're a rather useless bunch...need to work on that.
People coming over soon, alors, g2g!

My Take

My take on day one of about 700 or so:

Before School: stupid, stupid schedule lines! They annoyed me. And I hate curling irons. But at least I got up on time.
1. Hmm...Ms. Hollis seems okay so far. I'll reserve judgement.
2. Sra. Sanders is awesome, I'm already terrified by the workload, but it should be a cool class. Only eight kids!
3. An actually good choir, yay! Still don't like the teacher much, though.
4. Eh. I don't like boring videos provided by teachers who don't show up to the first day of class...chamber does not bode well, but at least I've got Liv and Riah. And TB wasn't there today, lucky for Mo!
5. Ms. Quinlan is AWESOME. I only wish it were last year's group...
6. What can I say? Ms. Armbrust wasn't there, all I know is that the textbook is darn heavy.
7. AAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!! I REALLY don't like Ms. Mitzel or her class! Seriously lame in my opinion! I'm going to try to switch to DiGiacomo. Honestly, lectures on "how to stack chairs" that drag on an on really just don't appeal...
After School: Went to Mo's, watched part of Bye Bye Birdie, a very interesting musical about...you guessed it, fangirls. Highly entertaining.

And that's my day! Whew.

Since Mo Asked...

The blogs are revived. So am I.

Before school- not that bad, except for my shirt. Or lack thereof. ;)
1 period- Ms. Hollis is pretty nice, but maybe a bit boring. It's cool having Mollie there.
2 period- SO MUCH FUN! Kels and Thomas, I love you guys (Family way!) but you probably hate me after the finger on lips thing...lol ;)
3 period- DANG Was ms. rea hyper! lol. I'm in stupid math. w/evs
4 period- kinda boring. mr. hettmansperger is kinda wierd
5 period- great having science with all of u- and mr. d! Woot!
6 period- made me feel smart. french 40! yet, rather uneventful
7 period- SO THE BEST! I loooooove ms. quinlan, and that poem was really fun. I'm not done yet! :D
After school- nervwracking. I'm NEVER going to make it into Harvey. So nervous- and auditions are still a week away! That's not healthy...
Coming home- deflated. Somehow everything was just gloomy for a bit.
My bike ride- fantastic. Puffed me back up again. A good talk with God'll do that for you, eh? :)
Dinner- tasty! Chicken curry! I love curry. But now I have to clean up. Drat.
Toodles!

Died

The blogs have died. No one updates, no one comments, but for perhaps the occasional random word...No one e-mails anymore. No one smilies in hallways, you just talk to one person, trailing behind them. In class it's a bit better- there's the three people who you're friends with you might be lucky enough to A) even have class with and then B) get to sit by. I don't know...it just seems like everyone's gone away...

My Take on the First Day

Before School: Hectic. I need to wake up earlier so I don't have to rush as much.
Spanish: Eh. Senora Meiler isn't very fun or energetic or particularly friendly. Maybe it'll get better.
History: I guess it was cool. I think I'll be good in that class.
Math: Mr. Lehr is such a nerd! But that's a good thing, I think. Maybe. Our textbook weighs a ton. Joy.
Orchestra: Boring. The Art of the Violin is officially the most boring movie ever.
Science: Mr. DiGiacomo is okay. I don't like his "forced randomness," though.
Lunch: Different. Very different. I guess it'll never be the same, eh?
Tech: Boring. Mr. Hettmanspeiler (what a name) is too enthusiastic.
English: OMG AMAZING! I already LOVE this class and I'm so glad I have it last, end the day on a good note. Ms. Quinlan is really cool and I'm so excited; our class will ROCK! Not as much as last year's, but that's not really possible, is it? Anyway, I think that'll be my favorite class.
After school: Talking to everyone is great! It's cool having Ariel and Taryn in middle school now. Yay!

Well, that's it. What did you guys think?

We've decided

We've decided to buy a pie. Pies sound really tasty, especially apple ones. Warm. Since we just watched..."Are you my neighbor?" VEGGIE TALES babe! I love those things. And the songs? Spectacular. ~Kenz

Pie sounds excellent. Really excellent. apple...pecan..cherry..............all kinds, really
shhhhh....;)
~Hannah

OOh, yes, cherry. We're jacking songs! Pirates who don't do anything. That was actually my most favorite song right up until I was like 8. ~Kenz

Winkie. Weiner. Wimp. Jerk. Ball! Good in leggings...This is an absolute work of art. Believe me, Just. Don't. Ask.

Just A Thought...

My mum and I were watching the news as we ate dinner tonight and the stories were the same as usual:
1. Six miners still trapped in a collapsed mine
2. Gas prices down
3. Milk prices up

And it made me think... all these stories are because of energy. The miners wouldn't be stuck if we didn't use coal. Gas prices wouldn't be relevant if we weren't so dependant on gas for fuel. And if we figured out a way to produce enough so that there was enough corn for fuel and food, we wouldn't worry about milk. It makes me think that the way to do the most good for people and the enviornment would be to go into science and research energy alternatives. But science has never been my thing... Could one help just as much by writing about this issue? Is it hypocritical to demand that people do something, but do nothing yourself?

Just a thought...

What's on my mind

I'm back! We had lots of fun. We went to Crater Lakes, which actually turn into South Boulder Creek! It was really cool, and one of the most beautiful places I've ever seen! We even found a Beer Hut, and we spent like all of last night yelling "I'M OLD GREG!!!" Or at least, Sam and Grant did. And against my will, I was labeled Li'l Greg. Lol.

Anyone who's reading this: YOU'RE INVITED!!! After orientation on Wednesday (which ends at 1:30), you should all come back to my house, around 3. We'll be swimming, laughing, playing games, once we held Thomas hostage, jumping on the tramp, and just generally running about like hoodlums! Anyways, it'll be a ton of fun, and I really hope you can all come, as a final goodbye to summer. *SNIFF*

As to Moriah's post, that's really impressive, and I don't disagree. Check out pluggedinonline.com and read the review of the last book. The last line made me laugh. :)

Grant wants to sleep in a bed of pies. Freak.

A Defense of Harry Potter

This is a defense of Harry Potter that I wrote for my grandmother. Apparantly she shared it with some of the people in her mission and her "boss" liked it a lot. Anyway, I figured I'd post it.

As for the "dark tones" and "magic", yes, they exist but it's not in a bad way. There is magic, sorcery, witches and wizards, but it's important to remember that the story is not real. The series does not promote witchcraft or magic in any way; it uses a magical world as a means of telling an entertaining story of the fight between good and evil. The story is a fantasy, but the themes, such as loyalty, compassion, bravery, hard work, love, friendship, conviction and helping others, are real. In the series there are some "dark" scenes, but there are in the real world too. Harry is a teenager who suffers from angst and loss. He is not perfect, he has his flaws. He does, however, try to overcome those flaws. I'm not quite sure what you mean by "dark tones". If you mean that Harry thinks the world is awful and that everyone should die, he doesn't. He gets angry when the government essentially becomes an oppressive dictatorship reminiscent of the Cultural Revolution. He does, at times, want others (such as the ones who killed his parents or other people) to die, but the only death caused by Harry (so far) is that of a monstrous snake that was killing students. Harry has angsty days, just like everyone else. People say the books are getting darker, but Harry's conflict with Voldemort is really just becoming more serious and Harry is becoming more independent. The books encourage people to be good and do good things, to be thier best and better.
As for the nightmares, the only nightmares I've had relating to Harry Potter are about us getting ripped off when the seventh book comes out. No, hang on, I also had a dream that I was a Harry Potter character and I came home from Hogwarts and had no friends and my (the character's) dad was a drunk, my (the character's) mother was dead and my (the character's) brother set the house on fire. But nothing like that happens in the books, so I think I just have an overactive imagination.
My testimony has not been diminished at all by reading Harry Potter. It's startling, actually, when you read your daily dose the Book of Mormon and then read some Harry Potter and Dumbledore says something almost exactly that Nephi said. The Book of Mormon basically says that Jesus is the Christ, good will triumph over evil in the end and that we should be good people. Harry Potter says that we should be good people and the good will triumph over evil. If something encourages you to be a better person, then I say it's good. Harry Potter does that.

Backpacking Again

That's wierd that Kenz's and my family both went backpacking. I just got back today; it was very fun! There were a couple accidents (We lost the trail and I fell into a mine - about seven feet. I'm kind of scratched and bruised up, but I landed on my feet! Yay...ish.). We went to Lost Lake, which is very beautiful! We found this one rock with an incredible view; it was very nice. Hope your summers were as great as mine!

My Schedule

Okay, sorry I'm so late posting this, but for those of you who don't have my schedule yet, here it is:

1. World History Honors - Hollis
2. AP Spanish Literature - Sanders (LeeAnne)
3. Puma Pride Choir - Andony
4. Chamber Orchestra - John
5. World Literature Honors - Quinlan
6. Pre Calculus Honors - Armbrust
7. Biology 1 Honors - Mitzel

I'm definitely doing Chamber Choir in the mornings, and hopefully forensics as well, and of course drama after school! Other than that, no plans. Let me know what classes you have with me!

BACKPACKING!

In a few hours my entire family is heading off for three days to go backpacking. That should be fun. It's just like a little two-mile hike-in, so it's pretty simple. It's near water, so that makes it even more fun! Umm...yeah. See you guys in school!

Bah! Everyone has their schedules except for me! The injustice....pffft. Oh, and kenz. I changed my message on my phone. Several people (including you) complained it was too boring.

Reasons I'm Much Less Than Content Right Now

1. My parents won't stop stressing out about next year's schedule. "How will you get to Seminary? Where will you go to Seminary? Who will take you? Does that work with Ariel's schedule? Can you get to Speech and Debate on time? What should we do? What do you have time for? How do we fit seminary, forensics, school, violin, piano, volleyball and Mutual in?" Argh. We can't decide anything now; we don't have enough information yet.

2. I'm surrounded by Ariel's junk even though I just cleaned the house. She has a room for a reason, why can't she put her stuff there?

3. Mum isn't feeling well and since she's stressing out about my schedule she won't rest and will consequentially get pnemonia. This will mean that Dad will freak out and that I will have to help Ariel with everything, make sure Mom rests when she doesn't want to and run everything.

4. I'm exhausted from yesterday and can't sleep.

5. I haven't done anything to get ready for school other than summer reading.

6. This computer never works.

7. I'm hungry.

8. Everyone's stressed out and it's all because of me.

9. My neck hurts.

10. I still have to practice piano.

11. I feel like I'm getting blamed for everything.

12. I hate being the youngest. Everyone's learning how to drive and stuff; I've got more than a year before I get my permit. Everyone's going to college while I stay here and start high school.

13. Ariel won't shut up.

14. My Sunday School class is awful. The boys never shut up, they're always making really immature and often rude remarks, they're loud, they're overly-competitive, one always has to be right and better than you and he always makes irrelevant comments that are annoying, and the teacher didn't even show up today.

15. Ariel still won't shut up.

16. This screen keeps flickering.

17. I sound like a self-centered, spoiled little brat in this post! Agh, I hate it when you try to vent and just end up sounding like a lazy, ungrateful, intolerant little git. Like I do here. Ugh.

When You Believe (Si Tienes Fe)

This is a great video for Spanish practice for the summer; it's also a great song.

Lyrics:
Cada noche ore,
no se si alguien me escucho,
en el alma un canción
que nunca entendí,
no hay miedo en mi interior
aunque haya tanto que temer
moverás montañas
porque en ti esta el poder

habrá milagros hoy
si tienes fe
la ilusión no a de morir
Un gran milagro
hoy al fin veré
Si tienes fe lo lograras
podrás si tienes fe.

Malos tiempos son
ni la oración ayuda ya
la esperanza puede huir
cual pájaro y volar
mas hoy yo sigo aquí
creciendo en gozo y en amor
con la fe y la devoción
que nunca imagine

habrá milagros hoy
si tienes fe,
la ilusión no a de morir
un gran milagro
hoy al fin veré
si tienes fe lo lograras,
podrás si tienes...

*Hebrew*

habrá milagros hoy
si tienes fe,
la ilusión no a de morir
un gran milagro hoy
al fin veré (al fin veré)
si tienes fe lo lograras,
lograras
podrás si tienes fe,
si tienes fe
podrás si tienes fe.

The Taffetas

Last night down at DCPA I got to go see The Taffetas, a show about a fifties girl group. It was playing in the Ellie Caulkins Opera House, and it was the first time I got to be in there. I had seats in like the second row, and it was really cool. The show was so cute, and they actresses were really genuine. They were really good singers, and the songs were totally hilarious! I had a bunch of fun.
