Random War Video

Wow! It's my first post!

...and it isn't even that important!

I just found this little video and thought it was pretty funny...I guess it isn't hilarious, but I still thought it was silly.

Um, yeah. If you have about five minutes to spare, please make me feel less stupid and at least watch a little bit of it...otherwise I'll feel like a total dork for posting some random thing that nobody watches xDD

...yeah.

Sick :(

Hey guys, I wasn't at school today cuz I'm sick. Could you guys tell me what I missed?

Tuesday, August 26

Success! At last!

So in case you didn't know, I carpool with 4 kids, 2 of which are these little 1st graders. And I've been trying to trick them for, like, I dunno, ever, but they're really smart little things and they don't believe a word I say. Like last time I tried to convince them that 2 + 2 really was equal to 5, and that they had been lied to their entire lives, but they concluded that 2 + 2 is still equal to 4, just I'm getting dumber. And they found the fact that I'm apparently stupid the funniest thing ever.

BUT! I have finally tricked them! I told one of them that he was ordered online at a baby shop, and that his mother asked for a little Chinese boy named Geoffrey. And that a stork dropped him onto the doorstep. Then he told me that that couldn't be true because he mom told him he came from an egg. So I told him that the stork laid and egg and that his mom had scrambled eggs for breakfast the next morning, so he got into her stomach and started growing. And then his mom threw him up. And now Geoffrey goes around proudly stating that he came from scrambled eggs. And the other little kid (named Brandon) has decided that he's alien spawn and that he was found in a dumpster. Aren't I good?

Stifled...

Today was mediocre. Lunch was good, but the rest of the day was just...mediocre.
Long. Unappealing. Constant.

Several years ago there was a term used by seamen, "getting caught in the doldrums."
The doldrums mean a silent spot on the sea, with no wind to propel you forward. You could stay there for weeks, or even months. The scary thing was that you could stay there longer than you had food for. You could die in the doldrums.

One history class of just taking notes and listening to Randall verbally abuse the rest of the class I can take. But 176 times? I feel like I'm falling into this rhythm at school, but it's not a rhythm I necessarily enjoy or appreciate. I feel as if I'm getting caught in the doldrums...

Today the front screen of my phone broke for no reason at all. One moment it was fine, the next moment it looked like an exploding star.

The Twilight Books

So, I just read a review on the Twilight books. I was curious, what were they all about?
I was disappointed.
They don't sound that amazing. Bella is supposed to be the hero...then why does she just sound like a messed up girl who pretty much ends up selling her soul? It's like Edward is a drug. And she will give anything to get high.
Her self-appointed fate sounds like it would be horrible. She did not become what she was destined to be, or whatever. Bella was never in touch with reality, she lived in the world she formulated for herself in her head. And now she is stuck there. I mean, she recreated herself into someone compatible with Edward, and in the end, she sounds like even Edward is no longer so fascinated with her.
At the end of the review and all the quotes, I was kind of confused. That's it? That's the end? I don't know what I was expecting, but I ended up feeling really empty. After all the time, all the emotions the reader invests into that series....and they can't even take anything away. No morals. No lessons. Nothing at all that even relates to our reality.
What the heck?
I was frustrated.
To me, the whole thing seemed like a waste. All the writing, all the reading, all the money, all the movies...all the fuss.

I hope you guys had a better result when reaching the end, because I would hate to hear that you were as blindsided as I was. To me, it just seemed unfortunate...and hopeless.
Let me know what you thought.

Bless

The State of Things

The Homework Song Moriah put up: I agree, pretty much the soundtrack to my life. It makes me laugh so hard.

My new house (!!!): ridiculously awesome! I can't wait to have a party! But my parents told me I had to give them at least two weeks to recover, so we can't celebrate just yet.

YAGM, CB: slightly less than exceptional. It doesn't help that pretty much every cast member except Katie and I are always off flirtIng. Okay, AJ came for most of it too. But we have our first director-sanctioned rehearsal in AGES this week, and I'm really excited to see everyone again.

Youth group: starts again this week! YES!!! I've been missing it so much! It's "the gathering" so both campuses are just going to hang out and party all night. If any of y'all want to come (which would totally be the bomb, by the way), it's either at 6:30 or 7 (I'll check) in Boulder.

Grant: has his first Boulder Force soccer game today- in South Denver. Ouch.

Sam: still asleep, as far as I know. He has his own room now, in the basement.

My balcony (!): shared with Grant, but that just makes it all the better. He put a tiny little putting green on it. It's so much fun! I totally can't wait for somebody to be like, "what's up?" and I'll say, "Oh, just golfing." Haha.

Cannon Mine: has been without me for way too long. I miss that place! I might have to hang out there after school maybe this week or something- anybody want to come?

Well, that looks like about it for the moment. I hope the rest of you update all of your blogs now, or at least comment on this one.
Love
y'all!

The Olympics

I love the Olympics. I love the funny commercials (the one about China falling in love with modern health care- SO CUTE!!! And then the one with sprite, where they jump into the basketball court- WOW!). I love the medals.
It's bringing America back to its patriotic roots, where everyone cheers for one country. It's the spirit of competition, and the idealistic United States that you enjoy as a child- filled with Fourth of July parades, and face paintings, and town picnics in the park.
Beach volleyball was my favorite, gymnastics and high dives tying for second.
Go Walsh and May! :P

Ok, what is this?

I just tried to read Roo's little sister's blog, and apparently i am denied access. What is this? I only read it once a month! Is that too much? Am i an Internet predator, seeking to rape and pillage young children? I assure you, i am neither.

Am I Just that Tasty?

Argh!! I have 5 bugbites right now!! It's sooo annoying. I don't know why I get bitten so much. Why do mosquitos even exist?? They're such disgusting creatures. And they seem to like eating me. Last time I went to Taiwan I got over 30 bites in one week. Sigh... Well. My little rant is over. See you guys in school tomorrow! (yay... FUN...)

Whoa.

Who changed the layout? I like it a lot, I'm just curious as to who changed it. Whoever you are, thanks!

Sucks For You, Preuss

My summer reading is NOT happening. I don't freaking care any more. I gave myself plenty of time for the THREE books people had told me I needed to read. Now that it's more like 5 or 6, whatever. It's NOT happening! So I called the library. The long walk is checked out until September. It's also sold out at the local bookstore. Guns, Germs, and Steel is not only sold out there as well, and checked out of the library, there are NINE freaking holds on it. Can I get exempted from the assignment if there's no physical possibility of me completing it?
Maybe the teacher will tell me I should have started earlier in the summer. Oh, well, I would've, if I'd known! But whatever. I'm over it.
