I'm mad. I'm SO mad right now.
I can't believe it. One of my best friends goes to Silver Creek, and this week she has to switch schools. Middle of the semester and everything. She's a little accident prone, and she hurt her foot recently. Rumors spread, and now people think she's faking. So they come up and KICK IT. She's been cussed out. She's been getting threatening text messages. Last week there was a threat about a school shooting in the boys' bathroom. Today someone was stabbed with a pair of scissors. And the school's still open, still operating!!! I mean, couldn't they just close it down for a week??? It's gotten so bad her mother took her out. She's only going back to get her stuff. Now in the middle of the semester she's being enrolled in Boulder Prep, a year-round school in Gunbarrel for "troubled students" aka the ones who get expelled from everywhere else. This is bogus.

The State of the Union
I watched the State of the Union as I made dinner last night, and these are my thoughts:
1. So we're going to increase government spending, decrease government income and get rid of the national debt all at the same time? How's that going to work?
2. Stop shoving American democracy down other people's throats!
3. Yes, of course No Child Left Behind was a good idea! (Can you smell the sarcasm?)
4. Our government's problem is that it's forgotten the one and only responsibility of government: To ensure the welfare of it's citizens.
5. Our president makes me angry.
Not that I got annoyed or started yelling at the TV or anything...

As my frail, weak, ravaged little body crumbles...
I just got back from WINTER RETREAT!!! Ah it was so amazing! Instead of going on the retreat I went to serve, and...AH!!! For the past five meals, i've been part of the Pits, washing the dishes. That's about 4 hours every meal, on a general scale. BUT IT WAS SO FUN!!! We'd play music, and cheer for the wait staff (waiting the tables), and dance, and like every two minutes someone would yell "EVERYBODY HULA!!!" so we'd all Hula!!! I haven't worked this hard in ages, but it felt so good!!! Wow. :)

The State of Things
Thomas's blog: updated! Nice job
All the other blogs: pathetic. Ancient. Six feet under and upside-down
My fingers: about ready to fall off and shatter when they hit the floor. I think they're frozen solid.
The weather: not sunny. cold. dry. absolutely frigid. Gray. Unenthusiastic.
My books: checked out some from the church library, but there haven't been any new ones in a while. There's one I really want to read but the library doesn't have it. Hmm.
My french mask: not even started. Homework. Dull.
Church: Amazing! The service was so good today, and youth group was even better. Wow. It was incredible.
Good
Afternoon

Bless

This Wednesday
Hey y'all!
So if you're not doing anything this wednesday night, I have a suggestion to make!!!
For those of us in Sound of Music, rehearsals aren't really a problem- my fun suggestion comes just a bit later.
At 6:30 I think you should all meet at the home of Matt and Julia Simms (two very responsible youth group leaders at my church) for "WNT", which stands for Wednesday Night Thing. From there we'll take a bunch of vans and go to EXTREME FUN GLADIATOR ARENA in Thornton, and it's pretty much THE FUNNEST THING EVER!!! There's all sorts of different games and nets and excersize balls and everything to play on, and it's all "physics-y" and there are things to climb and hit and balance on and throw!!! It's pretty much amazing. So if you like having fun AT ALL, you should come!!!
Cost is 20 dollars but if that's a problem just say so and we'll get it covered for you.
Hope to see you there!

The Journey
A long hard road
For both of us
Falling into ruts on the way
But we know
The destination is worth it
Though what the destination
Really is
We don’t quite know
Yet
But we’ll get there
Someday
Crossing fields
Up a mountain
And down again
Far, far away
And then close again
We’re both making
The same journey
But not always together
Hurting each other
Over and over
Again
Forgiveness comes in the morning
Strained conversations
But some not so strained
Awkward sometimes
Distant often
But still linked
By the road that stretches
Occasionally uniting us
But separating us
More often than not
Going it alone
Makes it more dangerous
And much less
Entertaining
But we don’t join up
For reasons
Neither of us
Comprehend
Sometimes
I wish we could

Moriah: Is feeling bad about not posting. Sorry!
Ariel: Is at the Brain Bowl Tournament.
Mom: Is also at the Brain Bowl Tournament.
Dad: Is at work.
My science drawing: is not started
My english poster: is needing work
The CD player: Really likes the songs "Good and Evil", "Someone Like You" from Jekyll and Hyde, "What Ever Happened To My Part?", "Come With Me" from Spamalot, "Thank Goodness", "March of the Witch Hunters" from Wicked and "It Will Be Me" and "Joyful, Joyful" by Kristen Chenowith.
I: am going back to prose posting.
Anyway, Kelsey has introduced me to both Jekyll and Hyde and Spamalot, both of which I now love.
I really loathe January. No celebrations, always cold weather, just school, school, school and all that crap. At least the Winter-One Acts are next week.
I've finished reading Tom Sawyer, Emma, Pride and Prejudice and Jekyll and Hyde. I'm in the middle of Huckleberry Finn. Mark Twain is funny. I like the musical Jekyll and Hyde better than the book.
Week one of the new semester was waaaay to long.
I should probably look for a PI piece for state. What was yesterday's poem of the day? I liked it.
Ten-four, good buddies.
Adios, buckaroos.

The State of Things:
Kenz: is very annoyed that no one is posting, so I shall humor her :).
The debate meet: went very well! I got 4th place in humor interp - my first time in the top six for that event!!! And Olive got excellence! And So did Kaylin! And Maithreyi got fifth for OO! And a bunch of other people got awards too, only I don't feel like putting them all down. For your benefit, Mo, TB and Cindy got 2nd - again. I think that's about the fifth time that's happened to them now - the judges must have a grudge against them.
The debate bus: Actually came! We were very happy about that :) (No more Fort-Collins-esq incidents involving arriving at school at five o-clock in the morning on a Saturday along with the rest of the speechletes for no apparent reason)
Mr. Shaefer: apparently now only answers to the name Schaefer-Wafer. Go figure. Cindy was trying to get his attention on the bus, and went through about five different variations on his name which he completely ignored - and responded promptly to this one. I have a weird debate coach.
Sound of Music rehearsals: Are progressing very well, but will pick up rather a lot when our 4 or 5 other Von Trap children show up!!! (I know, I know, it's not your fault, but that doesn't make it any easier to sing harmonies with invisible people). According to Ms. West, the nuns have been brawling - too many teenage girls all shut up in one dressing room. Good luck with that, Sister Tabitha.
My cat: has been meowing for the past 2 hours at us and won't shut up. Dad got her a new toy, and she adores it...a little too much. I threw it down the stairs, and now she thinks it's in the bathtub and won't stop yowling at me about it. Grrr.
My hair: won't make up it's mind whether it's straight or curly right now.
My internal clock: is set on Tokyo time.
The transvestite with an english accent guy: won first for humor - I think I've seen his piece 3 or 4 times now, and it still makes me laugh hysterically whenever I see it. Mo, I know you don't like it, but it's still amazing as far as I'm concerned (Liv agrees with me).
Kaylin: Signed up for solo acting and got stuck in CST instead somehow. Poor her! At least it wasn't OO...lol. And she did really well for a first time!
Camilla: is apparently in the hospital for dehydration right now! :( Or at least she was last rehearsal. Poor Camilla! qq
My planner: Has been found! Now I have two - I think I'll keep using my new one for now.
And that's my life at the moment.

Gosh Darn It
Why won't anyone freaking post? I've been away for 3 days and I come back to the exact same blogs I left! (Except for Thomas- kudos)
Lame
Darn you, Agnes. Darn you to heck.
That's weak I say. Stupid parents writing in. It's "Public," therefore, CENSORED.
Grrr, there's so much more I want to put there, but I won't.
Potential predator on the loose! He got lots of information about kids at peak to peak. Lots of information like what? "I have science 3rd?" Well that's gonna do a sex offender a heck of a lot of freaking good. Or maybe even, "Yeah, softball game in broomfield this weekend?" That would do him so much more...But still.
IT'S CALLED DANGER. IT'S CALLED REAL LIFE. IT'S CALLED THINKING FOR YOURSELF. IT'S CALLED MAKING A DECISION! IT'S CALLED MAKING SMART CHOICES. IT'S CALLED AMERICA. WHERE LIFE IS HANDED TO US ON A PLATTER, AND WE'RE TOO FREAKING SPOILED TO EVEN TAKE HOLD OF THE PLATTER!!! WE'RE SUPPOSED TO MAKE USE OF THE OPTIONS GIVEN TO US! IT'S CALLED DODGE RAMS, GRAB LIFE BY THE HORNS. IT'S CALLED RED BULL, GROW WINGS. IT'S CALLED COMMON SENSE!!! AND YET, WE CONTRADICT OURSELVES. "NO, NO, WE CAN'T GO TO THE BATHROOM." "NO, NO, YOU MAY NOT EAT." "NO, NO, WE DO NOT ALLOW PROTECTION." AND THEN YOU'RE ALL GOING TO FREAKING, AS MR. D SO RIDICULOUSLY PUT IT, "THINK THOSE 9TH GRADE THOUGHTS" AND TURN MY HONEST WORDS PERVY! THAT'S ALL WE THINK ABOUT AND I WANT TO BRANCH OUT! I WANT TO BROADEN MY HORIZONS TO INCLUDE THE KITCHEN, THE FOYER, THE REC ROOM- NOT JUST THE BEDROOM! I WANT TO GET OUT OF THE COMFORT ZONE!!!
SOMETIMES LIFE MAKES PEOPLE UNCOMFORTABLE. THEY NEED TO LEARN TO TAKE IT.

My Official New Year's Resolutions
--> Read through entire Bible
--> Be involved in at least 4 theatrical productions
--> Go on a mission trip
Well, I don't know. Specific goals are fun to be able to finish and all, but really who can predict what God's will will be for them over the next entire year? A year is a long time, and do we really want to limit ourselves like that? "It's not limiting, but broadening horizons, for if we reach for nothing, we achieve nothing," they say. I guess I agree. But still, maybe we won't have time to pursue what God wants for us because we're too caught up in crossing an insignificant "goal" off our list. Here's an idea!
--> Stop being indecisive!
Or maybe not...

The Pain of a Piercing
A piercing
unwanted
unfortunate
unrelenting
"oh!"
they cry
it sounds rather
gruesome
I say tell no one
for after all
it sounds rather
gruesome
"soak it"
they say
so I do
in epsom salts
what are those?
heavens, who knows?
just looks like salt
to me
the box looks
as if it would hold BBs
and it says it's for
minor sprains and bruises
and relief of
occasional constipation
ew
what's in this?
Again, who knows?
pour it in the dish
stick in the
afflicted area
and wait
Oh, horror!
Foot stuck!
To dish!
Ow!
Oh, the pain
of a piercing

My Weekend...was really good
So Sunday, after 3 hours of driving and a very uncomfortable attempted nap in the bucket seat of the car, my family and I made it to Breckenridge and the cabin!
Note, Sam, and Grant divided themselves between the two queen beds in the loft, and I was stuck with the room downstairs with two twin beds. Oh well. Katie would share it with me when she got there.
While the boys watched Starsky and Hutch I just sort of vegged around in the kitchen and mom and dad went snowshoeing around the block, and then alot later the Knutsons (my cousins!) arrived! That means Uncle Kent, Aunt Anne, and Katie (10th grade), Jenna (5th grade), and Mark (college). We played games and ate dinner and had a jolly good time, and the snow came down in torrents throughout all of it. A bit later we got a call from some of our neighbors, who were stranded in the blizzard, along with 2500 others! When we heard that we eagerly welcomed them in, and they took over the bedroom I had been in. Quickly we made amends, and I got one of the queen beds and Note pushed together the couch, ottoman, and leather chair! He was so happy with that he stayed there another night.
The next morning the three Blanchards piled back into their tiny little Honda Accord and drove off. We'd been planning to go skiing, but it was still snowing and 0 degrees. We nixed that plan, and a few hours later Mom, Anne, Katie, Sam, Grant, Me, Jenna, and Note all found a big sledding hill, where we froze our tookusses off! It was fun though. Then we all went to the Rec Center, which was amusing.
We had chili for dinner that night, and played a few more hours of Rummikub and Scrabble. Whoo! New Year! Ah, yes...Around 1 o'clock most everyone had gone to bed, but Katie and I sat half awake on the landing, knitting away, while Mark and Note finished yet another game on the kitchen table. They wanted to play still, but that game was getting old, so we all dug around in the game cabinet and found the Primo Edition of Cranium!!! The four of us played that until 3:30 in the morning, much to the chagrin of the rest of the family. But we had so much fun, it was amazing.
So now it's 2008, and we're free to leave behind our failures of the past year. All the tears, the struggles, the almosts, and the nevers.
They're gone, guys.
TO THE BEST YEAR EVER!!!
