The Chronicles of Narnia- Prince Caspian
Wow. This is an incredible movie. For fans of the book, don't look at it as if it's going to follow the book exactly- mainly because it doesn't. However, it holds truer to the book than I was expecting. Parts are just a bit more jumbled up and out of order. Oh my gosh, I don't even know what to say about it. It was rated PG, but I think a PG 13 rating would be better. Most of the movie was spent immersed in battle- a bit more than necessary. Miraz's death, I thought, was rather drawn out, but everything that went into it was good. Sure, there's rarely blood and you almost never see anything due to camera handling. But that doesn't change the fact that this is pretty much a war movie. People are dying left and right and that's not something that should merely be considered parental guidance! The part with the White Witch, the hag, and the were-wolf was weird. I wish that part could have adhered to the book more because it seemed just sort of out-there and sketchy. But it was good the way they handled the scene and the fight there. I thought it would have been better if they'd all vocalized more. Once they discover they've been brought to Narnia they all automatically understand that it's been hundreds of years. I for one thought that deserved a bit more recognition, because it's actually important. The scene during the night where Lucy has a dream was vague and unexplained. You think it's real and then it instantly cuts away and she's sleeping again. That confused me! One thing I wish they had done was use names. No one who came out of that movie knew who Reepicheap was, or Trumpkin the Dwarf, but they were some of the very central characters! In future movies that's going to trip them up. When they're in Aslan's Howe (that's the Narnian hideout, since it was never named), Lucy tells Edmund "maybe its us who need to prove ourselves to him." That's a mistake. It sounds all profound and stuff, but it's wrong. The children can't prove anything to Aslan. No one can. The whole point is that we are pathetic and useless and can't do anything on our own. It's all Aslan. I think that would confuse viewers. The kiss between Caspian and Susan: better than I had feared. It's ending something, not initiating it. However, since it's so close to the end and everything, I think people might get caught up in it. It's supposed to be a love story between Aslan and his children, not Caspian and a lover. Hm. And just a nit picky thing- Caspian is supposed to be blonde. That would be difficult, since the Telmarines are portrayed as Spaniards. I thought that was a fairly good interpretation, because they are supposed to be a different race. At the same time, it was occasionally difficult to understand them. The ending scene with the door was really good. The song I felt, even though Kelsey thought it was a bit out of place, was really good. It represented the transition back to our world...It was interesting the way Peter and Susan knew they weren't coming back. It worked though. Coming back to our world is so sad. And then this dude who was hitting on Susan earlier called to her, calling her Phyllis, as she'd told him at the beginning. And it was like, oh......... It was so sad. I was sad. Susan never goes back. That's it for her. She abandons Narnia! That's so sad. *tear*

I know! It was so sad. Honestly, i wasn't expecting much, becasue i'm not really into those fantasy epic movies. But i was kept on the edge of my seat the entire time! I'd see it again.

It was pretty much a war movie, and yet I still totally loved it, because...i mean, it's Narnia. I know I've sounded like a total fruit the past 24 hours, but...aw. *tear*
Really? Was it better than the first movie? Because I fell asleep when I watched that one...
It depends on how you define better. It was fairly intense. But I really can't understand how someone would fall asleep during that, so I can't relate.
I just saw the movie and I loved it! I've never read the book, but I thought the movie was very good. I was sad when Susan had to leave Caspian, though.
I thought it was wierd that there were major Peter vs. Caspian clashes, and then Peter does nothing when Caspian kisses Susan. That's not the big brother way. But it was still a great movie. Some things were a little too close to Lord of the Rings for my liking, like Edmund falling off the tower to be caught be a giant eagle, but it's still an epic.
Well it's not like Peter and Caspian are enemies, in the slightest!
Ugh I havnt seen it!!!
