So, tonight was my 2nd rehearsal of HPYS (High Plains Youth Symphony, for ya'll that don't talk to me a lot) and it was pretty fun! We got our chair audition results and I'm 5th chair in the 2nds, which I'm pretty happy about. My stand partner is Molly Putnam's really good friends and she has weird translucent braces and freakily perfect hair.
Mindy's stand partner is this really cute Asian dude (I know! It sounds impossible. But I swear, he was super cute.... Thought Mindy might disagree) and he plucks his strings really strangely - he does pizzicato with his thumb. I've never seen anyone do that. Over half of the people in the first stand (for you non-orchestra ppl, this means they're one of the best 2 players in their section) are either Asian or half-Asian. And the other half is German. No joke. Our symphony is made up of former Nazis. Which is amusing, because I'm pretty sure our concert mistress is Jewish. (the concert mistress/master is the best violinist in the orchestra)
So I played violin for 2 hours and ate a lot of grapes. That's what I did tonight.

You must get a picture of this cute Asian for me.
Huh. Aren't ethnic studies fun? Like in math club today. I am one of the four caucasians out of about twenty five kids. The rest are Asians.
Hmmm...do you know this Asian's name perchance? Slight possiblity I might know him.
He just sounds familiar - I think he might be one of my teacher's students.
No, i don't know his name... but mindy prolly does.
I pizzicato with my thumb...
