The question of Achilles

You are given a choice.

Either a long and ordinary, but happy life, or a short life filled with glory. Which do you choose?

Longer, definately.

Long and ordinary. It might be cool to be accomplished at something, but I don't need glory

I dunno... it'd depend on how I died.

I mean, if some idiot who was jealous of my glory decided to take me captive and torture me until my bones all broke and I drowned in wine, then I'd take the longer one.

But I dunno... an ordinary life? Mebbe, but that just isn't me.

I know, neither sound good to me. I want my life to have a purpose here, to make an impact, a difference. But glory? That just sounds like conciet.

Define glory. If you define it as excitement, then maybe the shorter one (although it depends on how short!). If you define it as fame, no thanks.

Yeah, I'm pretty much with Katie. I mean, what use is glory, all it is is deceiving yourself into thinking you're something and you're not. But if it's excitement...and I'm not sure. We may need to define normal too.

Glory: appropriate recognition of your talents by the general public?
