The following is an e-mail that I got from a good friend of mine, and I completely agree with her.
i think i learn more useful information OUT of school then i do IN school. To prove this, I'll list what i learned while on Winter Break.
Things Hannah Learned Over Break
-Despite the fact that they can sing way better than I can ever hope for, all the members of "The Wallflowers" are...how do i put this? A "different" sight.
-Beyonce's mock-beehive hairstyle was popular in the 80's
-After high school, I want to wait a couple of years before going to college, and be a flight attendant instead. Unless i need a degree or some kickboxing classes to do that ("Sir, please sit back down" "no way! im getting off this plane" "well, if thats the way you want to deal.." (BAM BAM BAM!). "my ribs....." "now sir, would you please get back in your seat...")
-Various knitting techniques
-The weirdest line in U2's song "Numb" is "Have another grape"
-How they found Noah's ark, and who found it.
-College is just like high school, with different living conditions
-If you stay in a chlorinated pool for about two and a half hours, toenail polish will peel right off your toes (useful if you want a polish change)
-If you find a cute pair of jeans at American Eagle, you can get them for ten dollars cheaper at Macy's
-Sherlock Holmes mysteries, though hard to read at first, are very interesting.
-If you see a T-Rex, dont move. But if you see a velociraptor, look to the left and the right then run like heck because they do weird three-pronged attacks. They also have different vocal sounds. And dont ever zap one of those small chicken-like dinosaurs with a cattle prod. When you are all alone, they will gang up of you. (i watched all three "Jurassic Park"s)
-A woman sold snow on Ebay
-My dream job would be playing with the CBS Orchestra on "The Late Show"
-The music video for "All i want is you" can make me almost-cry
-The resturaunt "Texas Roadhouse" has large cactuses..cacti? at head level, and if you turn around too fast, you will sustain serious injury
-Various ways to take over the world (Pinky and the Brain anyone?)
-Skydiving costs around $200 for a tandem dive, and $300-600 for solo divesnow,
dont you think thats way more important than Lewis-dot diagrams and verb conjugations? and thats not all i learned. i just didnt want to bore you with various facts about music artists, cds, and anything else music related.
My Response:
that was an awesome list, i really enjoyed it. i think i'll try to make one of my own.
